0A.1.X4

Fendt 0A.1.X4 – Basic Control ECU (A050): Valve actuator falls short / Valve spool stops short

Issue description

The system detects that the spool valve is not reaching its commanded position, often due to brief control pressure dips or highly viscous hydraulic oil from low temperatures. The affected valve automatically moves to the neutral position and locks.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III / SCR)
  • Fendt 400 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 700 Vario (COM III / SCR / Tier 4)
  • Fendt 800 Vario (COM III / SCR)
  • Fendt 900 Vario (COM III / SCR / S4 Series)

Check the cause

  1. Check ambient temperature and tractor's hydraulic oil temperature for cold, thick oil

  2. Verify hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and filters are not restricted

  3. Monitor pilot control pressure and overall system pressure for brief dips when the valve is actuated

  4. Connect a diagnostic tool (FENDIAS or TEXA) to scan the Hydraulic Valve BUS for active or stored codes

  5. Check for mechanical binding or internal actuator failure if oil is warm and pressure is stable

Repair steps

  1. Warm-Up Procedure

If the tractor is operating in extreme cold, allow the hydraulic system to reach normal operating temperature. Cycle the tractor off and back on to see if the valve unlocks and the code clears.

  2. Address Pressure Dips

If pressure dips are found during diagnostics, replace the hydraulic filters and inspect the hydraulic pump/pilot pressure supply circuit.

  3. Valve Isolation

Identify the exact valve throwing the code (e.g., Y071 is typically Valve 1/Yellow, Y072 is Valve 2/Blue, etc.).

  4. Valve Replacement

If the spool is mechanically jamming and cannot achieve its stroke, depressurize the hydraulic system, disconnect the electrical connector from the affected valve on the CAN bus, and unbolt the valve slice from the hydraulic distributor block.

  5. Installation & Teach-In

Install the new spool valve section and torque to OEM specifications. Reconnect the wiring harness.

  6. Calibration

Use the diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard terminal to clear the fault codes. Perform a 'Teach-In' or configuration wizard procedure so the Basic Control ECU (A050) recognizes the new valve on the CAN bus.
