Fendt 0A.1.X8 – Tractor ECU / Overall System Electronics: Auxiliary Control Valve actuator does not return to its neutral position

The valve actuator is mechanically jamming. This can occur in either the pilot control or the main actuator and is most frequently caused by contamination in the hydraulics area. The affected valve remains deflected when the engine is running, the valve locks out for safety, and the pilot pressure is turned OFF.

   Identify the specific valve by checking the 'X' digit in the 0A.1.X8 code (1 through 8) to determine which color-coded valve block is jamming.

   Check for hydraulic contamination by pulling a hydraulic oil sample and inspecting the hydraulic filters for metal shavings, dirt, or degraded seals.

   Perform a manual actuation test using the auxiliary valve emergency actuation hand pump to manually open the lock valves/main actuator to see if the spool is physically seized.

   Verify that the pilot pressure is reaching the valve block during active testing.

   Relieve Pressure

   Lower all hydraulic implements to the ground. Turn off the engine and relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system (including pilot pressure and accumulators).

   Access the Valve Block

   Remove the rear cover/paneling to access the auxiliary control valve stack (usually located at the rear of the tractor above the rear axle housing).

   Remove the Jammed Valve

   Disconnect the electrical CAN bus connector from the affected valve (Y071-Y080). Unbolt the specific valve slice from the hydraulic stack.

   Inspect and Clean

   Inspect the spool and the pilot control stage. If a small piece of debris is jamming the spool, it can sometimes be carefully cleaned out using hydraulic parts cleaner and compressed air.

   Replace if Scored

   If the spool or the bore is scored/scratched, the valve cannot be repaired and the entire valve slice must be replaced.

   Flush the System

   If contamination was found, drain the hydraulic oil, replace the hydraulic filters, and refill with clean, approved hydraulic fluid (e.g., STOU 10W-40 or Fendt Extra Trans 10W-40) to prevent the new valve from jamming.

   Reassemble and Calibrate

   Install the new or cleaned valve slice. Torque the tie rods to OEM spec. Reconnect the electrical harness. Use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool or the tractor's terminal to clear the fault code and calibrate the new valve's end positions.
