0B.1.42

Fendt 0B.1.42 – A050 Basic Control Unit / A054 Terminal: A050 - ECU, basic control unit; A054 - Terminal TEACH-IN

Issue description

A saving or read-out error between the terminal (Variotronic Ti) and the TEACH-IN system. It indicates a communication or memory inconsistency when the basic control unit attempts to save or read data from the terminal's TEACH-IN function.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 900 Vario Series (e.g., COM III generation, 916, 920, 924, 926, 930, 936, 939)
  • Fendt 700 Vario Series (e.g., 711, 712, 714, 716, 718, 720, 722, 724)
  • Fendt 800 Vario Series (e.g., 817, 828)
  • Fendt 500 Vario Series (e.g., 514, 516)
  • Fendt 300 Vario Series

Check the cause

  1. Check Fault Memory: Use the Variotronic Ti terminal or a diagnostic tool to pull all active and stored codes. Look for related communication codes (e.g., 0B.1.43 for the multifunction armrest, or 0B.1.B0 for CAN communication initialisation errors).

  2. Restart the Tractor: For memory function errors, official remedial actions suggest restarting the tractor first to see if the error clears.

  3. Check CAN Bus Connections: Verify the wiring harness and connectors between the A050 Basic Control Unit and the A054 Terminal for corrosion, loose pins, or damage.

  4. Diagnostic Scan: Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic interface (or a compatible tool like TEXA) to the tractor's dedicated diagnostic socket to run a complete scan of the electronic systems and verify the status of the A050 basic operating system.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect a laptop with FENDIAS (Fendt's computer-aided analysis, diagnosis, and EOL programming software) to the tractor using the diagnostic interface.

  2. Navigate to EOL programming

Navigate to the EOL (End Of Line) programming menu for the A050 Basic Control Unit and the A054 Terminal.

  3. Reflash/reprogram modules

Reflash/reprogram the modules to clear the memory inconsistency and restore the TEACH-IN saving/read-out functions.

  4. Hardware Replacement/Repair

If EOL programming fails due to an internal EEPROM error in the A050 ECU or a hardware failure in the A054 Terminal, the defective unit must be removed. Rebuild at a specialized agricultural electronics repair shop or replace with OEM parts.

  5. Perform EOL programming again

After installing a repaired or new module, EOL programming must be performed again to marry the components to the tractor's CAN network.
