Fendt 0F.1.06 – A038 - ECU, Central Electrical System: Front dipped beam (low beam) headlights non-operable

Indicates a non-operable condition in the tractor's front dipped beam (low beam) headlights (E099 - right, E101 - left). When the system detects that the dipped beams have failed or are drawing incorrect current, the function is disabled and the tractor automatically switches over to the additional headlights or corner lights.

   Visual Inspection: Check the H7 bulbs in both the left and right headlight assemblies for blown filaments.

   Voltage Testing: With the engine running and the dipped beam switched ON, test the signal wire (terminal 56b) at the headlight connectors (Separation points X1604 for the right and X1606 for the left). You should read approximately 14 VDC. When switched OFF, it should read 0 VDC.

   Switch Verification: Verify that the steering column switch (S079) is sending the correct activation signal to the Central Electrical System ECU.

   LED Compatibility Check: If aftermarket LED headlights were recently installed, they may draw significantly less power than standard 55W halogen bulbs. The A038 ECU interprets this low current draw as a blown bulb, triggering the 0F.1.06 fault code. You may need CANbus warning cancellers/resistors if this is the case.

   Turn off tractor

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and allow the headlight assemblies to cool.

   Access headlight assemblies

   Access the rear of the front headlight assemblies located in the front grille/hood area.

   Disconnect electrical harness

   Disconnect the electrical harness (Flachstecker/spade connectors) from the back of the affected headlight.

   Remove dust boot and retaining spring

   Remove the rubber dust boot and unclip the retaining spring holding the bulb or the 4-point mounting holding the headlight insert.

   Replace bulb

   If replacing just the bulb, insert a new H7 12V 55W halogen bulb (do not touch the glass with bare hands to prevent premature failure).

   Replace headlight insert

   If the reflector or glass lens is damaged, replace the entire headlight insert assembly.

   Reassemble headlight

   Re-secure the retaining clips, replace the dust boot, and reconnect the wiring harness.

   Test dipped beam

   Turn on the tractor and test the dipped beam function.

   Clear fault code

   Connect to the tractor using FENDIAS or SERDIA diagnostic software to clear the stored 0F.1.06 fault code from the A038 Central Electrical System ECU.
