Check the cause

  1. Mechanical Binding: Check if the wiper arm or blade is physically stuck, frozen, or binding on the glass.

  2. Electrical Testing: Test the rear wiper motor (M004) in the same manner as the front wiper motor (M002) to verify if the motor itself has failed.

  3. Wiring & Connectors: Inspect the separation point connector (X258) located behind the roof lining on the upper right of the rear window. Check for loose pins, moisture, or corrosion.

  4. Switch Check: Verify the integrity of the rear wiper motor switch (X273) inside the cab.

Repair steps

  1. Locate rear wiper motor

Inside the cab, locate the rear wiper motor (M004) on the upper right of the rear window.

  2. Detach interior panel

Detach the interior panel / roof lining to access the motor wiring.

  3. Disconnect electrical connector

Disconnect the electrical separation point (connector X258) behind the roof lining.

  4. Remove wiper arm nut

On the exterior of the rear window, remove the protective cap and the M8 hex nut securing the wiper arm.

  5. Remove wiper arm

Pull off the wiper arm, taking care not to lose the spacer and washer seals.

  6. Remove faulty wiper motor

Unscrew the base plate and cover to remove the faulty wiper motor from the glass.

  7. Install new wiper motor

Install the new wiper motor. Ensure the rubber plates and washer seals are correctly positioned to prevent water ingress into the cab.

  8. Reconnect wiring

Guide the wiring through the grommet in the cab roof and reconnect the X258 electrical connector. Fasten any surplus wiring with a cable tie.

  9. Reinstall wiper arm

Reinstall the wiper arm. Crucial step: Adjust the wiper width, wiping angle, and parking position before fully tightening the M8 hex nut.

  10. Test wiper function

Turn on the tractor and test the wiper function to ensure the code clears and the motor parks correctly.
