0F.1.22

Fendt 0F.1.22 – A050 - ECU, Basic Control Unit (EXT): Checksum error over address range for diagnostic parameters

Issue description

The internal memory check (checksum) for the diagnostic parameters stored within the control unit has failed. This is typically caused by software corruption, a voltage spike/drop during a read/write cycle, or an internal memory (EEPROM/RAM) hardware failure.

Applies to these machines

Check the cause

  1. Verify the Code: Call up the fault code on the tractor's terminal to confirm it is active.

  2. Attempt to Clear: Note that while some codes can be cleared via the dashboard buttons, fault codes stored in the A050 Basic Control Unit can only be deleted using the official FENDIAS diagnostic software.

  3. Check Power Supply: Before condemning the ECU, check the power supply (+UB) and ground connections to the A050 ECU (e.g., at separation point X169, pins 1, 2, and 3). Poor voltage supply can cause memory read/write errors.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic software

Connect a laptop with the FENDIAS diagnostic software to the tractor.

  2. Clear fault memory

Attempt to clear the fault memory of the A050 ECU.

  3. Perform EOL programming

If the code cannot be cleared or returns immediately, you must perform EOL (End of Line) programming on the A050 ECU using FENDIAS. This will attempt to re-flash the parameters and correct the checksum mismatch.

  4. Diagnose hardware failure

If EOL programming fails, the A050 ECU has suffered a permanent internal hardware or memory failure.

  5. Remove ECU

Remove the A050 ECU from the tractor.

  6. Repair or replace ECU

The unit must either be sent to an agricultural electronics specialist (such as Ilgenfritz Mechatronics) for internal board repair, or replaced with a new unit.

  7. Calibrate new/repaired ECU

If installing a new or repaired A050 ECU, you must use FENDIAS to perform EOL programming and calibrate the tractor's systems to the new module.
