1.1.7F

Fendt 1.1.7F – A004 Control Console: Electrical fault in the hand throttle memory keys

Issue description

The system has lost communication with the manual throttle memory buttons on the control console. The tractor retains the last specified engine speed setting, and while enhanced memory features are lost, engine speed can still be manually adjusted using the physical hand throttle lever or foot accelerator pedal.

Check the cause

  1. Check fuses F040 and F041 on the A013 printed circuit/fuse board to verify the voltage supply for the CAN-Bus to the A004 console.

  2. Examine the hand throttle memory keys on the right-hand mudguard side console for physical damage, sticking buttons, or signs of liquid/moisture intrusion.

  3. Remove the side paneling on the right mudguard to access the A004 Control Console. Inspect the wiring harness and CAN-bus connectors (specifically the Joystick/CAN connections) for corrosion, backed-out pins, or chafing.

  4. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to check for broader CAN communication failures between the A004 (Side Console) and A002 (Enhanced Control ECU).

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes during module replacement.

  2. Access the Console

In the cab, locate the A004 Control Console on the right mudguard. Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim panels surrounding the side console.

  3. Remove the Faulty Unit

Disconnect the multi-pin CAN-bus and power connectors from the bottom of the A004 console. Unbolt the console assembly from its mounting bracket.

  4. Install the New Component

Fit the new A004 control console (or the specific replacement keypad module, depending on how the OEM supplies the part for your specific chassis).

  5. Reconnect and Reassemble

Plug in all electrical connectors securely and reinstall the mudguard trim panels. Reconnect the battery.

  6. Reprogramming (EOL)

Connect the FENDIAS tool. Clear the stored 1.1.7F fault code. Depending on the tractor generation, fitting a new A004 console may require End-of-Line (EOL) reprogramming or calibration to sync the new module with the tractor's CAN-bus network.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • A004 Control Console / Side Console ECU

Exact part number varies heavily based on the tractor's generation (COM I vs COM III) and specific chassis number.

  • Hand Throttle Memory Keypad / Switch Module

In many Vario models, a failure of these specific memory keys requires replacing the integrated console unit.
