Fendt 1.2.01 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC: G001 - Battery 1 (12 VDC)

Battery voltage is outside the setpoint range (short circuit to battery or earth, or voltage supply failure), resulting in no engine power or an inability to start.

   Perform a multimeter voltage test on the G001 battery (approx. 12 VDC at rest, 8 VDC during crank, 13.8 VDC running)

   Inspect contact points and fuses for high resistance

   Verify main ground connections, such as connection X505 at the right entrance step

   Review the 'Voltage supply +Ub' circuit diagram to trace for wiring breaks or short circuits

   Access the Battery

   Locate the G001 Battery 1 (often near the entrance step) and remove the battery case/cover.

   Inspect and Clean

   Check the battery terminals, cables, and ground pins for corrosion, breaks, or short circuits to earth. Clean all contacts to remove contact resistance.

   Test the Battery

   Perform voltage checks and a standard load test. If the battery fails to hold ~12 VDC at rest, or drops significantly below 8 VDC during cranking, it must be replaced.

   Replace if Necessary

   Install a new heavy-duty 12V tractor battery matching the OEM specifications.

   Clear the Fault Code

   Once voltage supply is restored, connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool to the tractor and manually delete the error from the engine control unit (EDC).
