Fendt 1.2.10 – Engine Management System (A022 or A051): Charge air temperature signal error

The signal from the charge air temperature / boost pressure sensor is out of range (too high, too low, or indicating a broken wire/short circuit). The engine control unit defaults to using a substitute value to calculate the fuel injection quantity, which forces the tractor into a reduced power/output mode to protect the engine.

   Inspect the 4-pin sensor cable connection (Ground, Signal temperature, Supply, Signal pressure) at the B053/B092 sensor for broken wires, loose connections, or short circuits.

   Visually inspect the sensor to see if it is clogged by oil or soot, which can prevent accurate readings.

   Check the radiator and cooling system for clogs, as an actual over-temperature event can trigger this code.

   Test the sensor's electrical resistance with a multimeter (the temperature portion is an NTC thermistor, so resistance should decrease as temperature increases).

   Use SERDIA or FENDIAS diagnostic software to read KWP codes and monitor live data to verify if the sensor is reading a static, out-of-bounds value.

   Clean the Radiator

   If the diagnostic data shows the temperature is actually too high, clean the radiator and intercooler fins to restore proper airflow.

   Repair Wiring

   If a short or break is found in the harness during the diagnostic phase, repair the wiring and secure the connection to the sensor.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring is intact and the sensor fails the multimeter resistance test (or is physically clogged/damaged), remove the old B053 sensor from the boost pressure pipe/intake manifold and install a new one.

   Clear Codes

   Connect the SERDIA / FENDIAS diagnostic tool to delete the error code from the ECU and restore full engine power.
