1.2.12

Fendt 1.2.12 – EDC 7 (Engine Control Unit): S002 - Switch, ignition: Pin 50, Ignition starter switch sticking

Issue description

Terminal 50 (Pin 50) is the electrical circuit responsible for the starter crank signal. This fault code triggers when the system detects that the ignition switch is mechanically or electrically stuck in the "Start" (crank) position, sending a continuous crank signal even after the engine has started.

Check the cause

  1. Turn the ignition key to the 'Start' position and release it. Verify if the key physically sticks and fails to spring back to the 'Run' position.

  2. Access the ignition switch (Component S002) and locate separation point/connector X072.

  3. Check Pin 50 for a short-to-voltage or a continuous signal. Refer to Wiring diagram Sheet 7 for tracing the Terminal 50 circuit.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Remove trim panels

Remove the steering column covers or dashboard trim panels (depending on the specific model) to access the rear of the ignition switch (S002).

  3. Disconnect connector

Disconnect the multi-pin electrical connector (X072) from the back of the ignition switch.

  4. Remove ignition switch

Unscrew the retaining bezel/nut on the front of the dash and remove the faulty ignition switch.

  5. Install new switch

Install the new ignition switch, secure the retaining bezel, and plug in the X072 connector.

  6. Reassemble and reconnect

Reassemble the steering column/dashboard trim and reconnect the battery.

  7. Clear error codes

Connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic tool (or use the tractor's onboard A008 terminal) to delete the stored error codes (FC: 00E3, 00E4).
