1.2.21

Fendt 1.2.21 – Engine Control Unit (ECU / EDC 7): K063 - Heater flange relay

Issue description

Break in wiring or short circuit, or the relay is incorrectly connected, causing the pre-heater (grid heater) to become inoperable and resulting in cold-start issues.

Check the cause

  1. Check operating conditions to ensure ambient/engine temperature is less than 5°C (41°F), as the heater flange only engages below this threshold.

  2. Measure voltage at the K063 relay Terminal 86 (inductive input) — it should read 0 VDC when inactive and 12 VDC when active (indicator lamp in the A007 instrument panel illuminated).

  3. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the relay for a cable break or short circuit (refer to Wiring Diagram Sheet 36).

  4. Connect the SERDIA program to read the fault log, check sensor values, and run a function test on the actuators.

Repair steps

  1. Ensure the tractor is turned off and the battery disconnect relay (K068/K069) is open to safely work on the electrical system.

Safety precaution before working on the electrical system.

  2. Locate the K063 heater flange relay.

Refer to your specific model's component location chart.

  3. Remove the fixing bolts securing the K063 heater flange relay.

    Prepare the relay for removal.

  4. Pull the relay to one side and disconnect the wiring harness.

Disconnect the relay from the electrical system.

  5. Inspect the connector pins for corrosion, melting, or pushed-out pins.

These conditions would cause the 'incorrectly connected' or 'open circuit' fault.

  6. Repair any damaged wiring on the harness side.

Perform repairs per Wiring Diagram Sheet 36.

  7. Install a new K063 relay if the relay coil is internally shorted or open.

Secure it with the fixing bolts.

  8. Reconnect the battery and use the SERDIA tool to delete the error code.

Clear FC:0011, FC:0013, or FC:0014 from the EDC memory depending on the exact sub-code.
