Fendt 1.2.22 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): K063 - Heater flange relay (Break in wiring or incorrectly connected)

The engine pre-heater becomes inoperable due to a break in wiring or incorrect connection at the K063 heater flange relay, which can cause hard starting in cold weather.

   Visual & Harness Inspection: Check the wiring harness connected to the K063 relay for physical breaks, corrosion, or incorrect connections (refer to wiring diagram Sheet 36 in the Fendt manual).

   Relay Actuation Test: Verify the K063 relay actuates the R002 heater flange when the ambient/engine temperature is less than 5°C (41°F).

   Voltage Measurement: Probe Terminal 86 ('inductive input') on the K063 relay. It should read 0 VDC when the heater flange is NOT active, and 12 VDC when active (indicator lamp in the A007 instrument panel lights up).

   Voltage Measurement: Check Terminal 85 ('inductive output') for proper continuity.

   Locate the Relay

   Locate the K063 heater flange relay. On many models, it is situated on the left side of the engine on the intake pipe.

   Remove the Relay

   Remove the fixing bolts securing the K063 heater flange relay and pull it to one side to access the connector.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or loose pin in the connector, repair the harness as necessary.

   Replace the Relay

   If the wiring is intact but the relay failed the voltage/actuation test, plug in the new K063 relay and secure it with the fixing bolts.

   Clear the Fault Code

   Connect a diagnostic laptop with the SERDIA or FENDIAS service diagnostics program. Read the fault log and delete the error (associated with FC:0013, FC:0014, or FC:0021) to clear the code from the engine control unit.
