Fendt 1.2.23 – EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) control module / FENDT control module: S047 - Switch, engine brake: Brake in wiring or short circuit

Tractor Management System (TMS) is switched off, the engine brake cannot be controlled, and the tractor loses enhanced features (often restricting operation so that only the foot throttle is available). The connection between the FENDT control module and the EDC control module regarding this switch has been interrupted, or there is a CAN-message failure.

   Check for a wire break or short circuit between the S047 engine brake switch and the EDC control module (refer to Wiring diagram Sheet 9 or Sheet 36).

   Inspect the separation point for the S047 switch, which is identified as connector X140 (located on the cab floor), for corrosion, loose pins, or moisture.

   Connect the tractor to the SERDIA or FENDIAS diagnostic software to read out the specific KWP code (often listed as FC:0034 for this circuit) and verify the signal fault.

   Locate the Switch

   Locate the S047 engine brake plunger-operated switch, which is typically mounted on the cab floor.

   Test the Circuit

   Using a multimeter, test the continuity of the wiring harness from connector X140 to the EDC control module to rule out a physical break in the wiring.

   Repair Wiring

   If a short circuit or broken wire is found in the harness, repair or replace the affected wiring section.

   Replace the Switch

   If the wiring and connector X140 are intact and have good continuity, the S047 switch itself is faulty and must be replaced.

   Clear the Code

   After the repair is complete, use the SERDIA or FENDIAS diagnostic tool to delete the error code from the system and restore TMS functionality.
