1.2.25

Fendt 1.2.25 – Engine Control Unit (EDC 7): Y006 - Solenoid valve, engine brake

Issue description

Cable break or short circuit (brake in wiring or short circuit to ground/battery) in the circuit controlling the engine brake solenoid valve, resulting in the engine brake not being able to be actuated.

Check the cause

  1. Consult the Fendt electrical wiring diagram 'Sheet 36' or the 'Deutz engine control' circuit diagram

  2. Locate the Y006 solenoid valve on the right side of the tractor (mounted on the engine bulkhead or hydraulic valve block)

  3. Inspect the separation point at connector X1679 on the Y006 valve

  4. Test the wiring harness between the EDC 7 control unit and the Y006 solenoid for continuity, cable breaks, or short circuits to ground/battery (wiring cause)

  5. Measure the resistance of the Y006 solenoid coil to determine if the valve itself has failed internally (component failure cause)

Repair steps

  1. Safely park the tractor, turn off the ignition, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

  2. Gain access to the Y006 solenoid valve.

On some models, this requires removing the right rear wheel and taking off the metal guard to access the hydraulic valve block.

  3. Disconnect the X1679 electrical connector at the solenoid valve.

  4. If the diagnostic tests revealed a wiring issue, repair the broken wire or resolve the short circuit in the harness.

  5. If the wiring is intact but the valve coil is faulty, unbolt and remove the Y006 engine brake solenoid valve.

  6. Install the replacement solenoid valve and torque to OEM specifications.

  7. Reconnect the X1679 electrical connector and reinstall any removed guards or wheels.

  8. Reconnect the battery.

  9. Connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic tool and clear the fault code memory (delete error FC:0052).

  10. Start the tractor and test the engine brake functionality to confirm the repair.
