1.2.41

Fendt 1.2.41 – A022 - ECU, EMR2: Coolant temperature has gone over the shutoff threshold.

Issue description

The system has detected that the engine coolant temperature has exceeded the critical warning/shutoff limit. The system will trigger a warning, reduce engine output, and eventually force an emergency shutdown if the temperature remains too high.

Check the cause

  1. Check engine coolant level and ensure there are no leaks in the cooling system

  2. Inspect the radiator and cooling package for blockages (dust, chaff, debris) that would restrict airflow

  3. Inspect the cable connection to the B048 water temperature sensor for breaks, corrosion, or loose pins

  4. Verify the shutoff threshold programmed in the A022 ECU using the SERDIA diagnostic tool

Repair steps

  1. Clean the Cooling System

Blow out the radiator and cooling fins with compressed air to remove any dust, chaff, or debris restricting airflow.

  2. Top Up Fluids

If the coolant level is low, fill it to the manufacturer's specified level and bleed the system of air.

  3. Test the B048 Sensor

Use a multimeter to test the resistance of the B048 water temperature sensor. Compare the readings against the temperature-resistance curve for the Deutz EMR2 system.

  4. Replace the Sensor

If the sensor's signal is out of range, or if the engine is physically running at normal operating temperatures but the sensor is reporting an overheat condition, replace the B048 sensor.

  5. Clear the Fault

Connect the Deutz SERDIA diagnostic software (via the FENDIAS interface) to clear the inactive fault code from the EMR2 ECU memory once the repair is complete.
