1.2.53

Fendt 1.2.53 – A022 - ECU EMR2: Difference between target control travel (ECU EMR2) and actual control travel (actuator) greater than 10%

Issue description

The engine control unit commands the actuator to move the injection pump control rod to a specific target position. If the physical position of the rod reported by the position sensor differs from the commanded position by more than 10%, this fault is triggered.

Check the cause

  1. Manually check whether the injection pump control rod functions smoothly to rule out mechanical binding.

  2. Check the wiring harness and connectors running from the Y035 actuator to the A022 ECU for damage, corrosion, or poor connections.

  3. Connect the SERDIA (Deutz) diagnostic program to test the EMR actuator electronically.

Repair steps

  1. Inspect the Control Rod

Locate the Y035 EMR actuator on the engine. Disconnect the linkage/control rod and move it by hand. If it is stiff or binding, clean, lubricate, or repair the mechanical linkage until it moves freely.

  2. Test the Actuator via SERDIA

Use the SERDIA diagnostic tool to command the actuator to sweep through its travel range. Monitor the feedback from the position sensor.

  3. Check Voltage/Wiring

Verify that the actuator is receiving the correct operating voltage and PWM signals from the ECU, and that the 5V reference circuit for the position sensor is intact.

  4. Replace the Actuator

If the control rod moves smoothly but the actuator fails to reach the commanded position (or the internal position sensor has failed and is reporting incorrect values), replace the Y035 EMR actuator.

  5. Recalibrate

After replacing the actuator, use the SERDIA software to calibrate the new actuator to the EMR2 control unit.
