1.2.60

Fendt 1.2.60 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Misfiring on several cylinders.

Issue description

The engine control unit has detected that the number of misfires across multiple cylinders has exceeded the allowed limit value. This indicates an incomplete combustion event, which can be caused by fuel starvation, electrical faults in the injector circuits, or internal mechanical engine damage.

Check the cause

  1. Use FENDIAS, SERDIA, or a compatible scanner to scan for specific cylinder misfire codes (e.g., 1.2.61 for Cylinder 1, up to 1.2.66 for Cylinder 6).

  2. Check the wiring harness and connectors leading to the fuel injectors (magnetic valves) for short circuits, chafing, or cable breaks.

  3. Check the low-pressure fuel system and high-pressure rail. Verify that the rail pressure sensor (B086) and fuel dispensing unit (Y091) are operating within setpoint ranges. Ensure the fuel filters are not clogged.

  4. If the electrical and fuel delivery systems are functioning correctly, perform a compression test and check engine mechanics (valves, pistons, head gasket) for physical damage.

Repair steps

  1. Address fuel restrictions

If fuel pressure is low (fuel starvation cause), replace the primary and secondary fuel filters. Bleed the fuel system to ensure no air is trapped in the lines.

  2. Repair wiring

If a short circuit or cable break is found in the injector harness during diagnostics (electrical fault cause), repair or replace the affected wiring.

  3. Replace faulty injectors

If diagnostics point to specific injectors failing to atomize fuel properly or if the magnetic valves are defective, replace the affected fuel injectors.

  4. Reset the ECU

Switch the ignition off, wait for the ECU to completely shut down, and switch the ignition back on. Non-self-curing errors remain active until the ECU is reset.

  5. Clear fault codes

Connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool and delete the error code (FC:002E) from the A051 Engine Control Unit.
