Fendt 1.2.63 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Misfiring on cylinder 3

The engine control system has detected that the third cylinder is not contributing to the engine's power output as expected, which is typically caused by a fuel delivery issue (such as a faulty injector), an electrical fault in the injector circuit, or a loss of mechanical compression.

   Read and clear faults using the Fendt SERDIA service diagnostics program to determine if the error is a hard fault or an intermittent anomaly.

   Perform an actuator test using the SERDIA software to run a Function test on the cylinder 3 fuel injector, verifying if the EDC 7 can communicate with and actuate the solenoid.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the A051 Engine ECU and the cylinder 3 injector for breaks, chafing, or short circuits.

   Perform a cylinder compression test and verify fuel rail pressure to rule out mechanical failures such as valves or piston rings if the electrical circuit is intact.

   Ensure the tractor is turned off and the battery is disconnected.

   Clean the area around the cylinder 3 fuel injector to prevent debris from entering the engine.

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the cylinder 3 injector.

   Remove the high-pressure fuel line connecting the common rail to the injector.

   Cap the rail and line to prevent contamination.

   Remove the injector hold-down clamp and carefully extract the injector from the cylinder head.

   Inspect the injector sleeve/cup in the cylinder head.

   If it is damaged or leaking coolant, it must be replaced using the appropriate puller tool.

   Install the new injector with a new copper sealing washer and O-rings.

   Reinstall the hold-down clamp, high-pressure fuel line, and electrical connector.

   Bleed the fuel system if necessary, reconnect the battery, and use the SERDIA tool to clear the fault code and program the new injector's calibration code (IMA code) into the A051 ECU if required.
