Fendt 1.2.66 – EDC 7: Misfiring on cylinder 6

The engine control system has detected that the number of misfires on cylinder 6 has exceeded the allowed limit value, meaning there is incomplete or absent combustion occurring in that specific cylinder.

   Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connections leading to the cylinder 6 fuel injector (magnetic valve) for cable breaks, short circuits, or loose pins.

   Test the fuel injector on cylinder 6 to ensure it is receiving the correct signal and properly atomizing fuel (a clogged or mechanically failed injector is the most common cause).

   Check the injection pump and high-pressure fuel lines for proper pressure delivery to cylinder 6.

   Perform a cylinder compression test to rule out internal engine mechanical damage (e.g., worn piston rings, damaged valves, or a blown head gasket).

   Preparation

   Turn off the tractor, apply the parking brake, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the EDC system.

   Access the Injector

   Remove the necessary engine cowlings or valve covers to gain clear access to the cylinder 6 fuel injector.

   Wiring Repair (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic phase revealed damaged wiring, repair the harness or splice in a new injector connector.

   Remove the Faulty Injector

   Disconnect the electrical connector and the high-pressure fuel line from the cylinder 6 injector. Remove the injector hold-down clamp/bolt and carefully extract the injector from the cylinder head.

   Clean and Prep

   Thoroughly clean the injector bore. You must remove the old copper injector seal/washer—do not leave it in the bore.

   Install the New Injector

   Fit a brand-new copper seal onto the new injector. Insert the injector into the bore, torque the hold-down clamp to the engine's specific OEM torque rating, and reconnect the high-pressure fuel line and electrical connector.

   Clear the Fault Code

   Reconnect the battery. The fault code (internal FC:002B) must be cleared from the EDC 7 memory using Fendt's SERDIA diagnostic software.

   Test Run

   Start the engine, check for fuel leaks around the high-pressure line, and verify that the engine runs smoothly without logging the misfire code again.
