Fendt 1.2.79 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Break in wiring of cylinder bank 1 injector valves.
Issue description
The engine control unit has detected an open circuit (infinite resistance or lack of continuity) in the electrical circuit supplying the fuel injectors on cylinder bank 1. As a protective consequence, the ECU will initiate a cylinder switch-off, resulting in a misfire, rough idle, and reduced engine power (limp mode).

Check the cause
Visually inspect the engine wiring harness routing from the EDC7 ECU to the injectors for obvious signs of chafing, heat damage, or severed wires.
Disconnect the 16-pin injector connector (Connector A) at the EDC7 ECU and inspect the plug for engine oil ingress, which can cause open or short circuits.
Disconnect the electrical connectors at the injectors on cylinder bank 1 and measure resistance across the two terminals of each injector using a multimeter (healthy is 0.4 to 2.0 ohms; infinite indicates a failed open solenoid).
Check the continuity of the wiring harness from the injector plugs back to the 16-pin ECU connector to isolate the exact location of any wire break.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes during the repair.
Access the ECU
Locate the A051 EDC7 engine control unit (often located near the right entrance step/battery case, depending on the specific Vario model).
Isolate the Fault
Unplug the 16-pin injector harness connector (Connector A).
Repair the Harness
If a broken wire is found in the harness during continuity testing, splice and solder a new section of wire, sealing it with dual-wall, adhesive-lined heat shrink. If the 16-pin connector itself is damaged, corroded, or oil-soaked, cut it back and splice in a new 16-pin pigtail repair harness.
Replace Components
If an injector tested open (infinite resistance) during diagnostics, replace the faulty injector.
Reassemble
Reconnect all injector plugs, the ECU connector, and the battery.
Clear the Code
Connect a diagnostic tool with Deutz SERDIA software and manually delete fault code 1.2.79 (FC:009A) in the engine control unit, as it will not clear itself.
