Fendt 1.2.7D – A051 - ECU, Engine Control Unit (EDC 7): Short circuit or break in wiring to injector valve 2

The engine control unit has detected an electrical fault (either an open circuit/break or a short circuit) in the circuit responsible for firing the second cylinder's fuel injector. This typically results in an injection failure for that cylinder, leading to a misfire, rough running, and reduced engine power.

   Connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic tool to confirm the specific failure code (FC: 00A1 or 00A2 associated with 1.2.7D).

   Inspect the engine wiring harness running from the A051 EDC 7 control unit to Injector Valve 2 (Component ID: Y096) for chafing, melting, or disconnected plugs.

   Using a multimeter, measure the electrical resistance of the injector circuit. According to the Fendt 900 Vario service manual, you should measure the resistance across the injector pins (e.g., between pin 4 and pin 12 for the low/high side of injector 2). The specification should be approximately 0.5 ohms.

   Disconnect the harness at both the EDC 7 ECU and the injector. Test the individual wires for continuity end-to-end, and check for shorts to ground or shorts to power.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes while working on the sensitive EDC 7 system.

   Access the Injector

   Remove any necessary engine covers to access the fuel injectors on the cylinder head. Locate Injector Valve 2 (Y096).

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic tests revealed a broken wire or short circuit in the harness, repair the damaged section of the wiring using appropriate weatherproof connectors, or replace the engine wiring harness if the damage is extensive.

   Replace Injector (If Applicable)

   If the wiring harness tests perfectly but the injector itself fails the resistance test (internal short or open circuit), remove the high-pressure fuel lines and retaining clamps, and extract Injector Valve 2. Install a new injector with new sealing rings.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical harness to the injector and the EDC 7 ECU. Reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes

   Connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool and delete the error code from the A051 ECU memory. Start the engine and verify that the misfire is resolved and the code does not return.
