Fendt 1.2.7E – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Short circuit or break in wiring to injector valve 3
Issue description
The engine enters an emergency operating mode. The system limits torque, and the high-pressure relief valve may open. Because the fuel heats up strongly when the relief valve is open, the engine will only run for a maximum of 4 minutes before the system automatically shuts it down to prevent damage.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness between the A051 ECU (connector X1466) and Injector Valve 3 (connector X1673) for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation.
Disconnect the electrical connector at injector 3 and measure the resistance across the injector coil pins using a multimeter (should be approximately 0.5 ohms).
Test the wiring harness from the ECU to the injector for continuity, and ensure there is no short circuit to ground or to the battery voltage.
Repair steps
Preparation
Disconnect the tractor's battery. Thoroughly clean the engine area around the injectors.
Removal
Remove the valve cover or access panels as required by your specific engine model.
Disconnect
Disconnect the electrical connector from Injector 3 (Y097).
Remove
Remove the high-pressure fuel line connected to the injector. Cap all open fuel ports immediately.
Remove
Remove the injector hold-down clamp/bracket.
Extract
Carefully extract the injector from the cylinder head. (Note: Depending on the Deutz engine model, such as the TCD 2013, you may also need to inspect or replace the injector cooling sleeve if leaks are present).
Installation
Install the new injector using new O-rings and a new copper sealing washer.
Reinstall
Reinstall the hold-down clamp and torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's exact specifications.
Reconnect
Reconnect the high-pressure fuel line and the electrical connector.
Clear Codes
Connect a diagnostic laptop with SERDIA (Fendt/Deutz diagnostic software) to the tractor. Delete the stored error codes (FC:00A3, 00A4) from the A051 ECU.
Test
Test run the tractor to ensure the engine operates normally and does not revert to the 4-minute emergency shutdown mode.
