1.2.82

Fendt 1.2.82 – EDC (Electronic Diesel Control): Fault in high-pressure solenoid valve actuation time / Supply time High pressure solenoid valve not adequate

Issue description

The pump's internal control unit has detected that the high-pressure solenoid valve is not actuating within the required time frame. This leads to a deviation in the start of injection or inadequate fuel delivery, causing the engine to stall, cut out, or fail to start.

Check the cause

  1. Check primary fuel pressure from the lift/feed pump to ensure adequate supply, as fuel starvation can trigger actuation faults

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connections between the main EDC control module and the injection pump control unit for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins

  3. Verify that the pump control unit is receiving proper voltage and has a clean ground

  4. Check for accompanying CAN-bus communication codes (e.g., 1.2.1F / A021) which might indicate a wiring failure rather than an internal pump failure

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Clean injection pump area

Clean the area around the injection pump thoroughly to prevent dirt from entering the fuel system.

  3. Disconnect electrical connectors

Disconnect the electrical harness connectors from the injection pump control unit.

  4. Remove high-pressure lines

Remove the high-pressure injection lines and cap all open ports immediately.

  5. Lock engine at TDC

Lock the engine at top dead center (TDC) according to the MAN/Fendt engine service manual to ensure timing is maintained.

  6. Remove injection pump

Remove the injection pump mounting hardware and extract the Bosch VP44 injection pump.

  7. Install replacement pump

Install the replacement or remanufactured VP44 injection pump, ensuring the timing gear aligns perfectly with the engine's timing marks.

  8. Reconnect lines and connectors

Reconnect all high-pressure lines, low-pressure feed lines, and electrical connectors.

  9. Bleed fuel system

Bleed the fuel system thoroughly to remove all air.

  10. Test run tractor

Reconnect the battery, clear the EDC fault codes using the FENDIAS diagnostic tool, and test run the tractor to verify the repair.
