Fendt 1.2.84 (DEUTZ EMR) – ECU EMR2: Reference voltage 2 for Y035 - actuator out of permissible range
Issue description
The engine control unit has detected that the reference voltage circuit (specifically Reference Voltage 2) supplying the Y035 actuator is outside of its expected operating parameters. The Y035 actuator functions as the rotary position sensor magnet and position sensor (reference coil) for the engine governor/injection pump. The system defaults to a substitute value of 5 VDC.

Check the cause
Verify the main voltage supply to the ECU EMR2
Inspect the wiring harness from the Y035 actuator to the ECU for breaks or short circuits
Check the Y035 actuator using the DEUTZ SERDIA diagnosis program to monitor live voltage and position feedback
Switch the ignition OFF, wait, and then switch it back ON to see if the fault clears or returns
Repair steps
Cycle ignition
Turn the ignition OFF, then turn it back ON.
Replace ECU EMR2
If the error reappears immediately, the internal reference voltage circuit within the ECU has failed. The official remedy is to replace the ECU EMR2.
Save data record
Before removing the old ECU EMR2, you must connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool and save the old data record (engine dataset/parameters).
Install new ECU
Install the new, unprogrammed ECU EMR2.
Load data record
Load the saved data record 1:1 into the new ECU EMR2. The engine cannot be started until the new control unit is successfully programmed.
Parts you might need
(2)Engine Control Unit (ECU EMR2)
ECU part numbers are highly specific to the engine serial number and homologation. A blank/unprogrammed ECU must be ordered and flashed with the specific engine's dataset via SERDIA.
Y035 Actuator (Rotary Position Sensor / Reference Coil)
Located on the injection pump/governor assembly. Replaced if SERDIA diagnostics prove the internal coil of the actuator has shorted and caused the ECU reference voltage failure.
