   Read Codes via SERDIA: Connect the Fendt/Deutz SERDIA diagnostic software to read the exact sub-faults (e.g., FC:005F) and confirm the communication loss.

   Inspect the CAN Bus Wiring: Refer to the tractor's specific wiring diagram (often noted in manuals as 'Sheet 36' or the 'EDC Control' circuit diagram).

   Check Connections: Trace the wiring harness between the A051 Engine Control Unit and the Injection Pump Control Unit. Look for broken wires, chafing, or corroded pins at the separation points (e.g., X1466, X1671, X1672).

   Verify Power/Ground: Ensure the injection pump control unit is receiving proper voltage, as a power supply failure to the pump can also halt CAN communication.

   Disconnect the Battery

   Always disconnect the battery before performing electrical repairs on the EDC system.

   Locate the ECU

   The A051 Engine Control Unit is typically located at the right entrance step (behind the battery case) or mounted directly on the engine block, depending on the specific Vario model.

   Repair the Harness

   Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors on the CAN bus line between the EDC and the injection pump.

   Reconnect and Power Up

   Reconnect the battery and turn on the ignition.

   Clear the Fault Code

   According to Fendt service documentation, 1.2.x series faults must be manually deleted in the engine control unit using the SERDIA diagnostic software after the physical error correction is made. The fault will not clear on its own just by fixing the wire or cycling the key.

   Operate the tractor to ensure full engine power is restored and the code does not return.
