Fendt 1.2.B3 – EDC Control Module (Engine Control Unit): A020 - Pump control unit (injection pump) (EDC) — Fault in pump control unit power supply

The EDC system has detected a loss of power supply or a voltage failure at the injection pump's integrated control unit (A020). The underlying condition is typically a wire disruption, a short circuit, a blown fuse, a faulty safety relay, or an internal failure within the pump's control module. This causes the engine to stall and not start.

   Inspect the fuses supplying power to the EDC and the CAN bus circuit board.

   Test the EDC UB 30 relay (K020) and the safety relay to ensure they are properly switching power to the pump.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the EDC Control Module (A021) and the Pump Control Unit (A020) for wire disruptions, chafing, or short circuits.

   Check the main connector at the injection pump to ensure it is seated tightly and free of corrosion or moisture.

   Measure the voltage supply directly at the pump control module (A020) with the ignition on to verify it is receiving full battery voltage.

   Use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to delete the failure code memory, keep the engine at a standstill for at least 5 seconds between start trials, and check if the code returns.

   Resolve Power Supply Issues

   If the voltage test reveals no power at the pump, repair the broken wire, clean the ground connections, or replace the faulty K020 EDC relay/blown fuse.

   Clear and Retest

   After repairing the harness or replacing the relay, clear the codes using FENDIAS and attempt to start the tractor.

   Replace the Injection Pump

   If the wiring, fuses, and relays are all confirmed good, and the 1.2.B3 failure code persists after clearing it with FENDIAS, the internal control module on the injection pump has failed. Replace the injection pump.

4. 4

   Bleed the Fuel System

   If the injection pump is replaced, bleed all air from the fuel system before attempting to start the engine.
