1.2.B6

Fendt 1.2.B6 – A021 EDC: A020 - Pump control unit (injection pump) (EDC) — Fault during self-diagnostic test (EEPROM status)

Issue description

The internal memory (EEPROM) of the electronic injection pump control unit has failed its automated self-diagnostic check. When this fault is active, the system defaults to a restricted operating mode, resulting in reduced engine speed and reduced engine power to protect the powertrain.

Check the cause

  1. Check the power supply (+UB30) and ground connections to the A020 Pump Control Unit and the A021 EDC control module, as low voltage can trigger an EEPROM read error.

  2. Test relays K020 and K021, which supply voltage to the Pump Control Unit, to ensure they are not failing and interrupting power.

  3. Inspect the 'EDC Control' circuit wiring harness for breaks, corrosion, or short circuits between the EDC module and the injection pump.

  4. Attempt a software reset using FENDIAS or SERDIA diagnostic software to clear the code. If it returns immediately, it indicates a hard internal failure of the pump module.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes before beginning any repair work.

  2. Access injection pump

Remove the intake piping, fuel lines, and necessary engine covers to access the injection pump assembly.

  3. Lock engine timing

Lock the engine at top dead center (TDC) and lock the injection pump gear to maintain timing before removal.

  4. Remove injection pump

Remove the entire injection pump assembly, as the A020 control unit is physically integrated into the top of the pump.

  5. Replace or rebuild pump

Replace the pump with a new or remanufactured unit, or send it to an authorized diesel injection specialist who can rebuild the pump and replace the A020 control module.

  6. Install injection pump

Install the new or rebuilt injection pump, ensuring the timing gear is correctly aligned.

  7. Reconnect and bleed system

Reconnect all fuel lines and bleed the air from the fuel supply system.

  8. Clear fault codes

Reconnect the battery and use FENDIAS or SERDIA software to clear the 1.2.B6 fault code and verify normal operation.
