Fendt 1.2.B7 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): CAN-message missing
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit (EDC 7) has lost communication with the tractor's CAN bus network or is missing a critical speed signal/control message required for engine management, causing the tractor to enter a restricted operating mode (limp mode) with reduced engine power or limited torque.

Check the cause
Diagnostic Software Check: Connect the AGCO 2x4 CANUSB Diagnostic Tool and use FENDIAS or SERDIA software to read the fault memory. Confirm if SERDIA sub-code FC:0076 is present.
Wiring & Continuity Test: Consult the 'EDC control' circuit diagram. Check the CAN bus lines (CAN High / CAN Low) between the A051 Engine ECU and the A002 Enhanced Control ECU for continuity, high resistance, or short circuits to ground/battery.
Connector Inspection: Inspect the separation points on the A051 ECU (e.g., connectors X1466, X1671, X1672 or corresponding engine harness plugs) for moisture, corrosion, or backed-out pins.
Power & Ground Check: Verify that the A051 ECU is receiving proper operating voltage and has a clean ground connection, as voltage drops can cause CAN messages to drop out.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery before working on the EDC wiring harness to prevent voltage spikes.
Access the A051 ECU
Locate the Engine Control Unit. On many Vario models, it is mounted near the right entrance step behind the battery case, or directly on the side of the Deutz engine block.
Repair Wiring/Connectors
If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or corroded pin on the CAN bus circuit, repair the affected section of the harness using OEM-approved weather-sealed connectors.
ECU Reprogramming
If the wiring is 100% intact and the CAN network is otherwise healthy, the A051 ECU may have suffered a software corruption or internal hardware failure. Attempt an EOL (End of Line) reprogramming of the A051 unit using SERDIA.
Replace the ECU
If the ECU will not communicate or accept programming, it must be replaced.
Clear Faults
After repairing the wiring or replacing the module, reconnect the battery. You must use the SERDIA diagnostic software to clear the 1.2.B7 / FC:0076 fault code from the engine control unit's memory, as EDC 7 faults often will not clear themselves via the tractor's dashboard terminal.
