1.2.B9

Fendt 1.2.B9 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Pump control unit (injection pump) (EDC). Fault during injection pump self-diagnostic test (RAM fault).

Issue description

Internal memory (RAM) failure within the injection pump's electronic control unit during its auto-diagnostic routine. As a direct consequence of this fault, the engine will stop and cannot be operated.

Check the cause

  1. Connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool and read out the fault memory for the A051 ECU to confirm if 1.2.B9 is the only code present, or if there are accompanying CAN bus communication errors (e.g., 1.1.A1).

  2. Use the SERDIA 'Program: measured values' to read all sensors connected to the A051 ECU. Run the 'Program: Functional test' to test the functions of all actuators.

  3. Check the wiring harness and connectors leading to the A051 ECU and the injection pump for corrosion, moisture, or short circuits, which can sometimes simulate internal module faults.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Ensure the engine is off and wait at least 30 seconds before carrying out any work on the fuel system to allow high-pressure lines to depressurize.

  2. Remove the Faulty Module

Disconnect the battery. Locate the A051 EDC 7 control unit (often fuel-cooled and mounted near or on the engine/injection pump assembly) and carefully disconnect the multi-pin wiring harnesses.

  3. Install the Replacement

Mount the new or remanufactured EDC 7 control unit / injection pump assembly and reconnect the harnesses.

  4. EOL Programming

Use the SERDIA diagnostic tool to perform EOL (End of Line) programming. This flashes the correct engine parameter data record so that the engine configuration matches the specific tractor model.

  5. Clear Codes and Test

Clear the fault memory using SERDIA and crank the engine to verify the repair.

Parts you might need
