1.2.C0

Fendt 1.2.C0 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): CAN-message missing.

Issue description

The tractor's communication network has lost the Controller Area Network (CAN) signal from the engine control unit. This means other modules on the tractor are no longer receiving necessary data from the engine ECU.

Applies to these machines

  • 411 Vario COM III
  • 412 Vario COM III
  • 413 Vario COM III
  • 414 Vario COM III
  • 415 Vario COM III
  • 712 Vario COM III
  • 714 Vario COM III
  • 716 Vario COM III
  • 718 Vario COM III
  • 818 Vario COM III
  • 820 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario COM III (309, 310, 311, 312)
  • Fendt 400 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 700 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 800 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 900 Vario COM III (922, 924, 927, 930, 933, 936)

Check the cause

  1. Refer to the OEM electrical circuit diagram, specifically Sheet 36 (EDC engine control), to trace the CAN bus lines.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the A051 (Engine Control Unit) and the A002 (Enhanced Control ECU) or A050 (Basic Control Unit) for corrosion, loose pins, or physical damage.

  3. Connect the SERDIA diagnostic software tool to the tractor to confirm the active fault (FC:0080).

  4. Use a multimeter to test the CAN High and CAN Low wires for continuity and check for any shorts to ground or power.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery before working on the ECU wiring.

  2. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic checks reveal a broken wire, short circuit, or damaged connector pin on the CAN bus network leading to the A051 module, repair or replace the affected wiring harness section.

  3. ECU Testing/Replacement

If the wiring is completely intact and the CAN message is still missing, the A051 Bosch EDC 7 control unit itself has likely suffered an internal hardware failure. The unit must be sent out for specialized repair or replaced entirely.

  4. Clear Faults

Reconnect the battery and use the SERDIA diagnostic software to delete the error code (FC:0080).

  5. Reprogramming (If Replaced)

If a new or refurbished A051 ECU is installed, it will require EOL (End of Line) programming via SERDIA to match the engine configuration and chassis number of the specific tractor.

Parts you might need

(7)
  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) / A051 Module (Bosch EDC 7)

    0281010253

A replacement ECU is not plug-and-play. It must undergo EOL programming to ensure the engine parameters match the tractor model, otherwise, the tractor will operate in a restricted torque/emergency mode.

  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) / A051 Module (Bosch EDC 7)

    0281020048

A replacement ECU is not plug-and-play. It must undergo EOL programming to ensure the engine parameters match the tractor model, otherwise, the tractor will operate in a restricted torque/emergency mode.

  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) / A051 Module (Bosch EDC 7)

    0281020059

A replacement ECU is not plug-and-play. It must undergo EOL programming to ensure the engine parameters match the tractor model, otherwise, the tractor will operate in a restricted torque/emergency mode.

  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) / A051 Module (Bosch EDC 7)

    0281020070

A replacement ECU is not plug-and-play. It must undergo EOL programming to ensure the engine parameters match the tractor model, otherwise, the tractor will operate in a restricted torque/emergency mode.
