Fendt 1.2.C1 – EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) Control Module: Pump control unit (injection pump) (EDC) — Fault during pump control unit self-diagnostic test (solenoid valve output stage)

The pump control module failed its internal autotest. The system detects a voltage issue where the final stage solenoid valve on the injection pump is not being properly supplied with power, or the output stage itself has failed. When this code is active, the engine typically defaults to idle (720 RPM) or restricted power mode.

   If the fault occurs only when starting (voltage drop cause): Check the batteries and overall voltage supply, as low cranking voltage can trigger this solenoid output fault.

   If the fault occurs during operation (fuel pressure cause): Check the primary fuel pressure and the interior pressure of the injection pump.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the EDC Control Module and the Pump Control Unit for breaks or corrosion.

   Check the main relay and the relay time delay (after an engine stop, the relay must open within 5 seconds).

   Record the failure and ambient parameters using the FENDIAS diagnostic tool, clear the memory, and re-test to see if the code returns.

   Voltage Supply Measurement

   Connect an adaptor box with adapting connectors to the EDC Control Module (A021) at Connector X048.

   Pin Testing

   Measure the voltage between Pin B3/B4 and Pin B1/B2 on the control module.

   Ignition Off Test

   With the ignition "OFF", verify that battery voltage (U_Bat) is present and that the time delay occurs (the battery main switch should be held by the EDC Control Unit).

   Fuel Pressure Test

   If the electrical tests pass, loosen the hollow screw on the filter body and use a measuring case to check the pre-pressure and internal pressure of the VP44 injection pump.

   Component Replacement

   If the wiring, relays, and voltages are correct but the fault persists, the pump control module (which is integrated into the injection pump) has failed internally. The injection pump will need to be replaced or professionally remanufactured.
