1.2.C5

Fendt 1.2.C5 – Engine Control Module (EDC): Fault in engine stop via engine stop solenoid valve

Issue description

The system has detected a failure during the engine shutdown process that is managed by the stop solenoid valve. When this code is active, the tractor will enter a restricted operating mode, resulting in reduced engine speed and reduced engine power.

Check the cause

  1. Review the 'EDC Control' electric diagram to trace the wiring between the EDC Control Module (A021), the Pump Control Unit (A020), and the stop solenoid valve

  2. Inspect the wiring and connectors for discontinuities, loose connections, or short circuits in the harness leading to the engine stop solenoid valve

  3. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to record the failure and ambient parameters

  4. Run Test 30 (Relay Delay Time: Engine Stop with MAB-Signal) to evaluate the engine stop circuit

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Turn the ignition 'OFF' and connect the adaptor box with adapting connectors if performing pin-out tests on the EDC module.

  2. Inspect the Solenoid

Locate the engine stop solenoid valve on the injection pump assembly. Inspect it for physical damage, corrosion, or fuel leaks.

  3. Test/Replace the Solenoid

If the wiring (checked in the diagnostic phase) is intact but the solenoid fails to actuate or shows out-of-spec resistance, remove the faulty engine stop solenoid valve and install a replacement.

  4. Clear Codes

Use the FENDIAS diagnostic software to delete the failure code memory.

  5. Verification

Start the engine, perform a normal shutdown, and check again with FENDIAS to ensure the fault code does not return.
