Fendt 1.2.E1 – EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) module: Fault in speed signal (B014 - sensor, accumulator shaft, B015 - sensor - bevel pinion) or PTO is driving engine (running on)

Issue description

A plausibility failure where the speed indications from the transmission sensors do not logically correspond, or the PTO is mechanically driving the engine (no free-wheeling/trailing). When a heavy implement without a freewheel clutch pushes the tractor, it causes an incorrect speed signal reading.

Check the cause

  1. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to record the failure and ambient parameters.

  2. Delete the failure code memory first. If the code was triggered by a heavy implement driving the PTO, it may be a transient operational fault rather than a hard component failure.

  3. Monitor the live data for B014 (accumulator/collector shaft speed sensor) and B015 (bevel pinion/travel speed sensor). Ensure the speed indications correspond logically and in the correct direction.

  4. Check the 8.5V supply to the transmission sensors. A supply fault is often linked to the A013 fuse block (e.g., fuse 1 or 8 depending on the specific model).

  5. Review the 'EDC Control' and 'Transmission Control' electrical diagrams to check the wiring harness for continuity, shorts, or corrosion between the sensors and the EDC.

Repair steps

  1. Address Operational Causes

    If the fault only occurs during deceleration with a heavy PTO-driven implement, advise the operator to use an implement with a freewheel clutch. This prevents the PTO from driving the engine.

  2. Inspect Sensors

    Locate sensor B014 (hydrostatic accumulator shaft) and sensor B015 (bevel pinion) on the transmission housing. Inspect the physical condition of the sensors and their connectors for damage or ingress of dirt/moisture.

  3. Test the Circuit

    Using a multimeter, verify the 8.5V reference voltage at the sensor connectors. If voltage is missing, trace the harness back to the A013 fuse and the EDC, repairing any broken wires.

  4. Replace Faulty Sensor

    If the wiring and voltage are correct but FENDIAS still shows an implausible or missing signal from one of the sensors, replace the faulty Hall-effect speed sensor (B014 or B015).

  5. Recalibrate and Test

    Clear the fault codes using FENDIAS. Test drive the tractor to ensure the transmission shifts correctly, the speeds match, and the code does not return.
