Check the cause

  1. Attempt to clear the fault code from the tractor's memory (on older Vario terminals, simultaneously press keys D, B, and C) to ensure it is not a transient error.

  2. Inspect the physical condition of the FA suspension lock button on the multifunction armrest for sticking, debris, or damage.

  3. Check the wiring harness and connectors between the A039 multifunction armrest and the central electrical system for continuity, corrosion, or loose pins.

  4. Test the A039 multifunction armrest module using the Fendt 160-pin adapter box to verify if the signal fault originates from the button itself or the wiring.

Repair steps

  1. Park and secure tractor

Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

  2. Disconnect battery

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

  3. Remove armrest console

Carefully remove the trim and mounting screws securing the A039 multifunction armrest console to the driver's seat.

  4. Disconnect wiring harness

Disconnect the main wiring harness connector from the bottom of the armrest module.

  5. Replace keypad module or console

Because the FA suspension lock button is typically integrated into the armrest's membrane keypad or main circuit board, the individual button cannot usually be replaced on its own. You will need to replace the faulty keypad module or the entire multifunction armrest console depending on the specific seat/armrest version (e.g., Grammer Evolution).

  6. Install new module

Install the new armrest console or keypad module and reconnect the wiring harness.

  7. Re-secure armrest

Re-secure the armrest to the seat mount.

  8. Reconnect battery

    Reconnect the battery.

  9. Test and clear codes

Turn on the ignition, clear any stored fault codes, and test the front axle suspension lock button to verify the fault code 15.1.65 does not return.
