Fendt 18.1.32 – Overall System / Tractor ECU: Y087 - Steering valve block, Auto-Guide
Issue description
The system has detected an anomaly with the position of the steering valve actuator within the Auto-Guide steering valve block (designated as component Y087). The actuator is either failing to reach its commanded position, failing to return to neutral, or the position sensor is sending an implausible signal.

Check the cause
Inspect the electrical supply lines to the Y087 steering valve block for breaks, corrosion, or loose connections.
Check the wiring of the position sensor integrated into the steering valve for open circuits or short circuits.
Check for mechanical faults on the steering actuator itself. Ensure the actuator can physically reach the neutral position without binding.
Verify if the steering valve has lost its calibration data, which can trigger position warnings.
Repair steps
Repair Wiring
If any breaks or shorts are found in the wiring harness leading to the Y087 valve block or its position sensor, repair or replace the damaged wiring sections.
Recalibrate the Steering Valve
Enter the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu and run Calibration Code 2403 (Auto-Guide control valve calibration). Follow the on-screen prompts to teach the valve its end stops and neutral position.
Replace Component
If the calibration fails (e.g., the system reports the actuator cannot reach neutral) or if the position sensor is internally shorted/broken, the steering head or the complete Y087 steering valve block must be replaced.
Clear Faults
Once the repair or calibration is complete, clear the fault codes from the tractor's memory.
Test Drive
Perform a steering test via the Auto-Guide terminal and conduct a test drive to ensure the vehicle's correct operation and road safety.
Parts you might need
(1)Auto-Guide Control Valve / Steering Valve Block (Component Y087)
When ordering, you must provide the tractor's chassis number to the dealer to ensure the correct valve block version is supplied, as hydraulic flow rates and fittings vary between the 300-900 Vario series.
