18.1.33

Fendt 18.1.33 – 0000 - Overall system/tractor: Y087 - Steering valve block, Autoguide

Issue description

The system has detected an invalid position, mechanical fault, or communication issue with the actuator inside the Autoguide steering valve block.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 400 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 700 Vario (COM III, SCR)
  • Fendt 800 Vario (COM III, S4)
  • Fendt 900 Vario (COM III, SCR, S4, Gen6)

Check the cause

  1. Check if the system prompts for Calibration code '2403', indicating the steering valve may have simply lost its calibration values.

  2. Verify the supply voltage to the steering valve is within the acceptable range (must be between 10 V and 32 V).

  3. Inspect the wiring of the position sensor on the Y087 steering valve for breaks or short circuits.

  4. Verify that the actuator is not mechanically binding by checking if it fails to return to neutral upon switch-off or during the 'RUNUP' phase.

Repair steps

  1. Access the Valve Block

On models such as the 900 Vario, the Y087 steering valve block is located on the right side of the transmission. To access it, safely support the tractor and remove the right rear wheel and side panel.

  2. Inspect Separation Points

Check the electrical separation points (connectors X1588 and X1589) on the Y087 valve for corrosion or loose pins. Repair any wiring faults found.

  3. Attempt Calibration (Code 2403)

Enter the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu and initiate Calibration Code 2403 for the VarioGuide steering valve. Ensure preliminary conditions are met: the front wheels must be perfectly straight, and you must not manually actuate the steering wheel during the calibration process.

  4. Replace Component if Calibration Fails

If the calibration fails (e.g., taking longer than 30 seconds, plausibility errors, or no movement left/right) or if a hard internal short is found, the steering valve block (or steering head) must be replaced.

  5. Reassemble and Recalibrate

Install the new Y087 steering valve block, reconnect the hydraulic and electrical lines, reinstall the right rear wheel/panel, and perform the 2403 calibration procedure again to marry the new valve to the tractor.
