Check the cause

  1. Check the electrical supply line to the Y087 steering valve for breaks, short circuits, or voltage irregularities (supply voltage should be between 10V and 32V).

  2. Inspect the steering actuator and the position sensor inside the steering valve for mechanical faults or binding that would physically prevent the valve from returning to neutral.

  3. Verify if the steering valve has lost its calibration values in the EEPROM, which can trigger related Y087 fault codes.

Repair steps

  1. Wiring Verification

Locate the Y087 steering valve block (typically located on the right side of the transmission, accessible by removing the right rear wheel and panel). Inspect the wiring harness and connectors (Separation points X1588 / X1589) for corrosion or broken wires. Repair any damaged wiring.

  2. Actuator/Sensor Testing

If the wiring is intact, the issue is likely a mechanical fault within the steering actuator or a failed position sensor. Attempt to free any binding in the valve.

  3. Component Replacement

If the mechanical fault cannot be resolved or the position sensor has failed, replace the steering head or the entire Y087 steering valve block.

  4. System Calibration

After repairing the wiring, or replacing the steering valve block, you MUST recalibrate the steering system. Enter calibration code '2403' into the tractor's terminal to teach the A050 ECU the new valve's parameters.
