18.1.3C

Fendt 18.1.3C – A050 - ECU, basic control unit / A057 - ECU, steering controller (Auto-Guide): Y087 - Steering valve block, Autoguide (or VarioGuide)

Issue description

Invalid calibration values for the steering valve in the EEPROM. The system does not have valid calibration data saved for the Y087 steering valve block.

Check the cause

  1. Verify if the steering valve has ever been successfully calibrated

  2. Inspect the wiring of the position sensor in the steering valve for breaks or short circuits

  3. Verify the supply voltage to the steering valve is within the acceptable range (10V to 32V)

  4. Ensure there are no mechanical binding issues on the steering actuator or position sensor

  5. Verify there is hydraulic oil reaching the steering valve

Repair steps

  1. Prepare the Tractor

Park the tractor on a flat, open surface. Ensure the engine is running and the hydraulic oil is up to operating temperature.

  2. Safety Check

Warning: During calibration, the front wheels will deflect automatically. Ensure there are no people or objects within the steering area.

  3. Enter Calibration Mode

Access the tractor's calibration menu through the terminal.

  4. Run Calibration 2403

Initiate Calibration Code 2403 (VarioGuide steering valve calibration). Do not leave the operator's seat during this process, as the seat contact switch must remain engaged. The system will determine the valve slider free travel.

  5. Verify

Once the terminal indicates a successful calibration ("OK"), restart the tractor and verify that fault code 18.1.3C has cleared.

  6. Further Action (If Calibration Fails)

If the calibration fails repeatedly or the EEPROM drops the values again upon restart, the A050/A057 ECU may require EOL (End of Line) programming via the FENDIAS/SERDIA service diagnostic tool. If the valve itself has an internal hardware failure, the Y087 steering valve block must be replaced.

Always verify the exact part number against your specific chassis number (VIN) in the AGCO/Fendt parts catalog, as valve blocks can vary slightly between COM III, SCR, and S4 generations.
