18.1.5C

Fendt 18.1.5C – A050 Basic Control Unit (EXT): A050 - ECU, basic control unit

Issue description

Invalid parameters for the controller in the EEPROM. This means the basic control unit's internal memory (EEPROM) has corrupted, missing, or implausible configuration data, preventing the module from operating correctly.

Check the cause

  1. Verify if code 18.1.5C is currently active or just a stored historical code using a diagnostic tool like TEXA or FENDIAS

  2. Check for machine symptoms such as rear PTO failing to engage, CAN-bus communication dropouts, or the tractor being forced into emergency driving mode

  3. Inspect the A050 module wiring to ensure it is receiving proper voltage and has a solid ground, as voltage spikes or drops can cause EEPROM memory corruption

Repair steps

  1. Attempt EOL Programming

Perform EOL (End of Line) programming using the FENDIAS diagnostic software to attempt to re-flash the correct parameters back into the A050 EEPROM.

  2. Module Removal

If EOL programming fails, the EEPROM chip itself is likely physically damaged or suffering from a hard memory failure. Disconnect the battery and remove the A050 Basic Control Unit from the tractor.

  3. Repair or Replace

The A050 unit must either be sent to a specialized agricultural electronics repair facility (such as Ilgenfritz Mechatronics) for board-level EEPROM repair, or replaced entirely with a new OEM unit.

  4. Reinstallation and Calibration

Install the repaired or new A050 module. You must perform EOL programming via FENDIAS to configure the new module to the specific tractor's chassis and options.
