1E.1.00

Fendt 1E.1.00 – A051 - ECU, Engine Control Unit (EDC 7): A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7) - Undefined error / Original error, Deutz.

Issue description

A generic communication code indicating that the engine control unit (EDC 7) has detected an internal fault or an engine-side error, but the tractor's main display cannot interpret the specific Deutz engine fault code.

Applies to these machines

  • 309 Vario COM III
  • 310 Vario COM III
  • 311 Vario COM III
  • 312 Vario COM III
  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 400 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 700 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 800 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 900 Vario (COM III)

Check the cause

  1. Connect a laptop with SERDIA (Deutz engine diagnostics) or FENDIAS software to the tractor's diagnostic port

  2. Interrogate the A051 (EDC 7) module directly to extract the specific Deutz/Bosch fault code (e.g., FC:0020, FC:0037)

  3. Verify the wiring harness and CAN bus connections between the A050 (Basic Control Unit) and A051 (Engine Control Unit) for corrosion, moisture, or pin damage

  4. Attempt to clear the fault using SERDIA to see if the code immediately returns

Repair steps

  1. Retrieve Specific Code

Use the SERDIA tool to find the underlying Deutz fault code.

  2. Address the Root Cause

Repair the specific sensor, wiring break, or mechanical issue flagged by the SERDIA software (e.g., replacing a faulty boost pressure sensor or repairing a short circuit).

  3. ECU Replacement (If necessary)

If the SERDIA tool cannot communicate with the EDC 7 unit at all, or if it flags an internal EEPROM/hardware failure (e.g., FC:008D, FC:008E), the A051 ECU itself must be replaced or cloned.

  4. EOL Programming

If the A051 Engine Control Unit is replaced, you must perform End-Of-Line (EOL) programming using FENDIAS/SERDIA to match the engine configuration to the tractor's basic control unit.

  5. Clear and Test

After repairs or ECU replacement, clear all faults in both the A050 and A051 modules using the diagnostic software and test-drive the tractor to ensure the code does not return.
