Fendt 1E.1.06 – EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) engine control unit: Camshaft / Crankshaft Speed Sensor Signal Faulty, Missing, or Out of Phase

The engine control unit is detecting that the camshaft or crankshaft speed signal is faulty, missing, or out of phase (synchronization error).

   Verify Symptoms: Check if the engine starts after a prolonged attempt but runs rough, or if the start process is aborted entirely after about 5 seconds of cranking.

   Check Sensor Outputs (Voltage and Frequency): Test B085 (Camshaft) for approx. 1.85 VAC / 46 Hz at 800 rpm and 3.23 VAC / 93 Hz at 1600 rpm. Test B088 (Crankshaft) for approx. 20 VAC / 770 Hz at 800 rpm and 28.3 VAC / 1.54 KHz at 1600 rpm.

   Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Check the wiring harness for breaks or short circuits, and inspect separation points like connector X1657 (B088) and X1678 (B085).

   Locate the Sensors

   Find the B088 crankshaft speed sensor (typically on the right side of the engine near the flywheel) and the B085 camshaft speed sensor (near the camshaft gear).

   Test the Harness

   Disconnect the sensors and check the wiring back to the EDC engine control unit for continuity and ensure there are no shorts to ground or battery voltage.

   Replace the Faulty Component

   If the wiring is intact but the VAC/Hz readings are out of specification or missing, replace the faulty B085 or B088 sensor.

   Clear the Fault Code

   Once the repair is complete, connect the SERDIA diagnostic software to the tractor and delete the error code (FC: 004B, 004C, 004D, 004E, 004F, or 0050) from the EDC memory.
