Fendt 1E.1.22 – Engine ECU (Deutz/KHD engine control unit (EDC 7 / EMR)): K063 - Heater flange relay
Issue description
Fault with the K063 - Heater flange relay (grid heater relay) caused by a break in the wiring or an incorrect connection, rendering the engine's pre-heater inoperable.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the K063 relay for physical breaks, corrosion, or incorrect pin connections.
Test the K063 relay voltage using a multimeter. Terminal 86 (Inductive input) should measure 12 VDC when the heater flange is active (under 5°C) and 0 VDC when inactive.
Check Terminal 85 (Inductive output), Terminal 88 (Pin entry), and Terminal 88a (Pin output) for proper continuity.
Use the SERDIA / FENDIAS diagnostic software to read the specific KWP codes (FC: 0013, 0014) associated with this fault to confirm the diagnosis.
Repair steps
Locate the Relay
Locate the K063 Heater flange relay. Depending on the specific Vario model, it is typically located on the left side of the engine on the intake pipe.
Disconnect Power
Ensure the tractor is turned off and the battery disconnect relay is engaged to prevent electrical shorts.
Wiring Repair (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or damaged connector, repair the wiring harness according to the Deutz/KHD engine control circuit diagram (Sheet 36).
Relay Replacement
If the wiring is intact but the relay failed the voltage test, remove the fixing bolts holding the K063 heater flange relay. Unplug the relay and install the replacement part.
Clear Faults
Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use the SERDIA diagnostic tool to delete the error code from the Engine ECU.
Test Operation
Start the tractor in cold conditions (under 5°C) to verify that the pre-heater indicator lamp on the instrument panel illuminates and the grid heater functions properly.
