Fendt 1E.1.24 – ECU: Engine Brake Solenoid Valve Fault

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected a faulty valve or faulty actuation of the engine brake flap valve (Y006). This indicates an operational failure or incorrect feedback from the solenoid, meaning the control unit is attempting to actuate the engine brake but the mechanism is failing to engage properly.

   Visually and mechanically inspect the engine brake solenoid to see if it is physically loose, which can cause a loss of oil pressure required to activate the mechanism.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors for the Y006 solenoid and S047 engine brake switch for chafed wires, corrosion, or bent pins.

   Perform a manual bypass test by manually depressing the valve while the engine is running to isolate the issue to the electrical coil or wiring.

   Connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool to check for internal failure code FC:004A, command the valve to actuate, and monitor the electrical draw.

   Prepare tractor

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and allow the engine and exhaust system to cool completely as the components are located in high-heat areas.

   Locate solenoid

   Find the Y006 engine brake solenoid valve, which is typically located near the exhaust flap or integrated into the valve train depending on the specific Deutz engine model.

   Remove faulty valve

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the solenoid. Clean the surrounding area to prevent dirt from entering the system, then unbolt and remove the faulty solenoid valve.

   Install new valve

   Lubricate the O-rings and seals on the new solenoid with clean engine oil. Insert the new solenoid and torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specifications to ensure it does not vibrate loose.

   Reconnect wiring

   Reconnect the electrical wiring harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks securely into place.

   Check for leaks

   Start the engine and inspect the area around the new valve for any oil or exhaust leaks.

   Clear fault codes

   Connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool, delete the 1E.1.24 error code from the EDC memory, and test drive the tractor to verify the engine brake functions correctly.
