1E.1.37

Fendt 1E.1.37 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Fan speed exceeds target range

Issue description

The engine cooling fan is spinning faster than the engine control unit is commanding or expecting. This discrepancy is typically caused by a restricted air intake (such as a clogged air filter altering airflow dynamics), a faulty fan speed sensor, or a wiring issue in the EDC control circuit.

Applies to these machines

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the engine air filter for heavy dirt, debris, or blockages, as a restricted air filter is a primary cause.

  2. Locate the fan speed sensor and check its wiring harness for any cable breaks, short circuits, or loose connections routing back to the A051 ECU.

  3. Inspect the fan clutch or hydraulic fan drive mechanism for mechanical faults that might cause it to lock up or overspeed.

  4. Connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic software to monitor live fan speed data and compare it against the target speed.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and allow the engine to cool.

  2. Air Filter Maintenance

Remove the engine air filter. If it is clogged or heavily soiled, clean it (if it is a reusable type) or replace it with a new OEM filter.

  3. Sensor Replacement (if necessary)

If the air filter is clean but the fault persists, disconnect the fan speed sensor harness. Remove the mounting bolt(s) securing the sensor and extract it. Install the new fan speed sensor and reconnect the wiring harness.

  4. Clear the Fault

Connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic tool to the tractor's diagnostic port. Navigate to the A051 (EDC 7) module and clear the 1E.1.37 fault code.

  5. Test Operation

Start the tractor and run the engine at various RPMs to ensure the fan speed remains within the target range and the code does not return.
