1E.1.61

Fendt 1E.1.61 – ECU: Misfiring on Cylinder 1

Issue description

The engine control unit (Bosch EDC7) has detected a misfire event specifically isolated to cylinder number 1. In the Deutz/Fendt SERDIA diagnostic software, this corresponds to internal fault code FC:0026. This condition indicates a failure in the combustion process for that cylinder, which can be caused by wiring faults, a defective fuel injector, improper fuel rail pressure, or internal mechanical wear.

Applies to these machines

  • 309 Vario COM III
  • 310 Vario COM III
  • 311 Vario COM III
  • 312 Vario COM III
  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • 300 Vario COM III
  • 400 Vario COM III
  • 700 Vario COM III
  • 800 Vario COM III
  • 900 Vario COM III

Check the cause

  1. Inspect wiring and connectors (especially Connector 'A') from the ECU to the cylinder 1 injector for chafing, breaks, or short circuits.

  2. Perform an electrical resistance test on the cylinder 1 fuel injector.

  3. Perform a leak-off test or temporarily swap the injector with cylinder 2 to see if the misfire code changes to 1E.1.62.

  4. Verify that fuel rail pressure is within the target range.

  5. Perform a mechanical compression test on cylinder 1 to rule out internal engine wear or valve issues.

Repair steps

  1. Confirm fault code

Connect the Fendt/Deutz SERDIA diagnostic software to the tractor to confirm the presence of code 1E.1.61 (FC:0026) and check for any accompanying electrical circuit codes.

  2. Disconnect battery

Disconnect the battery before unplugging the EDC7 ECU or injector harnesses.

  3. Repair wiring harness

Repair or replace the engine wiring harness if any continuity issues or shorts to ground are found between the ECU and cylinder 1.

  4. Replace fuel injector

If the wiring is sound but the injector failed the diagnostic checks, remove and replace the cylinder 1 common rail fuel injector.

  5. Bleed fuel system

Reconnect all components and bleed the fuel system if the injector was replaced.

  6. Clear fault codes

Reconnect the SERDIA diagnostic tool and clear the fault codes. Note that 'SERDIA (delete error)' is required to clear this specific EDC fault.

  7. Test run tractor

Test run the tractor under load to verify the misfire is resolved.
