Fendt 1E.1.66 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Misfiring on cylinder 6

The engine control system has detected a lack of combustion or a significant power contribution drop specifically in the 6th cylinder of the engine.

   Connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic tool to confirm the presence of 1E.1.66 (FC:002B).

   Inspect the wiring harness between the EDC 7 control unit and the cylinder 6 fuel injector. Look for chafed wires, loose pins, or corrosion in the connector that could cause an open or short circuit.

   Use the SERDIA software to perform an electronic cylinder balance/contribution test to verify that cylinder 6 is the underperforming cylinder.

   Ensure there are no high-pressure fuel leaks at the common rail or the injector line for cylinder 6.

   If the electrical circuit and injector test fine, perform a mechanical compression test on cylinder 6 to rule out internal engine damage (e.g., worn piston rings, burnt valves, or head gasket failure).

   Preparation

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery. Thoroughly clean the area around the cylinder 6 injector to prevent dirt from falling into the engine.

   Disconnect Electricals

   Unplug the electrical connector from the cylinder 6 fuel injector.

   Remove Fuel Lines

   Loosen and remove the high-pressure fuel line connecting the common rail to the injector. Note: Immediately cap the open ports on the rail and the injector to prevent contamination.

   Extract the Injector

   Remove the injector hold-down clamp/bolt. Carefully pull the injector out of the cylinder head bore.

   Clean the Bore

   Clean the injector bore in the cylinder head, ensuring the old copper sealing washer is removed and the seating surface is spotless.

   Install New Injector

   Fit the new injector with a new copper sealing washer and fresh O-rings. Seat it carefully into the bore.

   Reassembly

   Reinstall the hold-down clamp and torque the bolt to the exact Deutz/Fendt OEM specification. Reconnect the high-pressure fuel line and torque it to spec. Reconnect the electrical plug.

   Post-Repair

   Reconnect the battery. Prime/bleed the fuel system if required by the engine manual. Use the SERDIA tool to delete the error code (FC:002B). Start the engine, check for fuel leaks, and verify smooth operation.
