1E.1.71

Fendt 1E.1.71 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Start of injection period in cylinder 2 outside setpoint range or absent

Issue description

Indicates a fuel delivery or timing issue where the engine control unit detects that the fuel injector for cylinder 2 is either not firing at the commanded time, or the injection event is completely missing.

Check the cause

  1. Connect the Fendt SERDIA service diagnostics program and verify the fault code (SERDIA internal fault code reference is FC:0019)

  2. Check the wiring harness between the EDC 7 ECU and the cylinder 2 fuel injector for cable breaks, chafing, or short circuits

  3. Use the SERDIA software to perform an actuator function test (cylinder shut-off/cut-out test) to isolate cylinder 2 and confirm it is not contributing to engine operation

  4. Measure the resistance of the cylinder 2 injector solenoid to determine if the injector has failed internally

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Wiring Issues

If the diagnostic checks reveal a short circuit or cable break in the injector harness, repair the damaged wiring or replace the affected harness section.

  2. Replace the Injector

If the wiring tests good but the injector solenoid is out of specification or mechanically failed, depressurize the fuel system and replace the cylinder 2 fuel injector.

  3. ECU Verification

If both the wiring and the injector are perfectly functional, the Bosch EDC 7 unit itself may have a burnt internal injector driver and require cloning/replacement.

  4. Clear the Fault

Once the physical repair is complete, you must use the SERDIA diagnostic tool to delete the error from the EDC 7 memory.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Fuel Injector (Cylinder 2)

Exact OEM part numbers vary heavily depending on whether the specific tractor chassis is fitted with a Deutz or MAN engine; verify via chassis number in the Fendt Epsilon parts catalog.

  • Engine Control Unit (ECU)

    EDC7UC31

Bosch EDC7. Only required if the ECU has suffered internal hardware failure.
