1E.1.72

Fendt 1E.1.72 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Start of injection period in cylinder 3 outside setpoint range or absent

Issue description

The engine control unit has detected that the fuel injector for cylinder 3 is either not firing at the commanded time, or the injection event is completely missing.

Check the cause

  1. Connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool to confirm the presence of internal fault code FC:001A

  2. Inspect the wiring harness between the A051 EDC 7 control unit and the cylinder 3 injector (Y097) for chafing, breaks, or short circuits

  3. Disconnect the plug at the cylinder 3 injector and check for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or poor terminal tension

  4. Perform an electrical resistance test on the cylinder 3 injector solenoid to determine if the injector has failed internally

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Wiring Issues

If the diagnostic checks reveal a wiring fault between the A051 ECU and the Y097 injector, repair or replace the affected harness section.

  2. Replace the Injector

If the wiring is intact but the injector fails electrical testing (or mechanically fails to inject fuel), remove and replace the cylinder 3 fuel injector.

  3. Clear Faults

Once the physical repair is complete, use the SERDIA diagnostic software to clear the fault code from the A051 EDC 7 memory.

  4. Test Run

Run the engine and monitor the start of injection parameters via SERDIA to ensure cylinder 3 is now operating within the target setpoint range.
