Fendt 1E.1.73 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Start of injection period in cylinder 4 outside setpoint range or absent
Issue description
The engine control module is detecting that the fuel injector for cylinder 4 is either not firing, firing at the incorrect time, or has an electrical fault preventing the injection event from being verified. When this fault occurs, the tractor may enter an emergency operating mode (power reduction) or shut off the cylinder entirely.

Check the cause
Connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostics program to read measured values for the A051 Engine Control Unit and perform a functional test of the cylinder 4 injector
Inspect the wiring harness between the A051 ECU and the cylinder 4 fuel injector for chafed wires, short circuits, or open circuits
Disconnect the cylinder 4 injector and check the connector pins for corrosion, pushed-out terminals, or poor tension
Repair steps
Test the Circuit
Using a multimeter, verify continuity and check for shorts to ground or power on the cylinder 4 injector circuit back to the A051 ECU.
Repair Wiring
If a break or short is found in the harness, repair the wiring or replace the injector harness section.
Replace Injector
If the wiring and ECU outputs test good but the injector fails the SERDIA functional test or has failed internally, remove and replace the cylinder 4 fuel injector.
Clear Faults
Connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool and delete the error (Internal SERDIA Fault Code: FC:001B). Note: Canceling a fault message on the dash does not remove the fault from the EDC memory; it must be cleared via SERDIA.
Test Run
Start the tractor and verify that the engine runs smoothly without misfires and that the emergency operating mode (power reduction) has been deactivated.
