1E.1.7A

Fendt 1E.1.7A – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Short circuit in cylinder bank 2 injector valves

Issue description

Short circuit detected, resulting in a cylinder switch-off to protect the engine and electrical components from further damage.

Check the cause

  1. Connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic software to confirm the active fault code (FC:009B)

  2. Inspect the A051 (EDC 7) control unit connectors, specifically Socket D2.3 (89-pin), for water ingress, oil ingress, bent pins, or damage

  3. Trace the wiring harness from the EDC 7 ECU to the fuel injectors on cylinder bank 2 and use a multimeter to check for a short to ground or power

  4. Test the electrical resistance of the individual injector valves on cylinder bank 2 to determine if the short circuit is internal to the injector solenoid

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical arcing or further damage to the EDC 7 ECU.

  2. Isolate the Short

Disconnect the injector wiring harness from both the EDC 7 ECU (Socket D2.3) and the injectors on cylinder bank 2.

  3. Repair/Replace Components

If the harness is shorted: Repair the chafed/damaged section of the wiring. If the connector or a large portion of the loom is damaged by oil/water, splice in an EDC7 89-way repair harness loom. If an injector is shorted: Remove and replace the faulty fuel injector on cylinder bank 2.

  4. Reassemble

Reconnect the injector harness to the injectors and the EDC 7 ECU, ensuring the connector is fully seated and locked to prevent moisture ingress.

  5. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool and delete the error code from the A051 ECU memory. (Note: The code must be deleted via SERDIA; it will not clear itself just by fixing the physical fault).

  6. Test Run

Start the engine and verify that the cylinder switch-off condition is resolved and full power is restored.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Injector Wiring Harness / Repair Loom

    1 928 404 195

Used to repair damaged EDC7 injector connectors across Deutz/Bosch applications.

  • Fuel Injector

Exact OEM part number depends on the specific Deutz engine model (e.g., TCD 2012 vs TCD 2015) installed in the tractor.

  • Engine Control Unit (ECU)

Bosch EDC7UC31. Only requires replacement or cloning if the short circuit permanently damaged the internal injector power stage of the ECU.
